With recent reports indicating that anywhere from 50% to a staggering 75% of graduating high school seniors are inadequately prepared for college, it is apparent that something is missing. In response, FutureWise developed a MENTORSHIP PROGRAM highlighting the academic and life skills that are largely neglected in schools today.
The Mentorship program is a unique program designed to equip students to learn how to learn and to develop the skills to make wise and responsible decisions for their futures.
Many students have been using ineffective study and communication methods because it’s all they know. FutureWise collaborates with students to come up with strategies that work in the context of their lives. We then assist them in applying these strategies effectively.
In short, students will:
- acquire essential academic and life skills ranging from note taking, communication, and oral presentation skills to developing professional relationships and improving self-awareness
- discover their best learning style and determine their best learning environment. We then apply that to study habits, time spent in class lectures, and test-taking strategies.
- identify core values, set meaningful goals, and work on overcoming fear and self-doubt
- learn the importance of balance and managing expectations
The result is a self-disciplined, motivated student ready for the world at their feet.
